  1. All new claims data is matched for accuracy against Social Security Administration information.
  2. Claimants who are not citizens of the United States are matched against records maintained by Homeland Security, formerly INS.
  3. Claimants participate in "Eligibility Reviews" which determine whether they qualify for insurance benefits.
  4. Earnings provided by the claimants are verified with their employers.
  5. Quarterly wages that are supplied by employers are matched against UI payments to detect overpayments and claimant fraud.

 

Glossary:

Claimant – A totally or partially unemployed person who files for unemployment benefits.

Overpayment – An amount of benefits paid to an individual to which the individual is not legally entitled.

Claimant Fraud – The willful misrepresentation or nondisclosure of a material fact by a claimant for the purpose of obtaining benefits to which the person is not entitled.
