Temporary Federal Additional Compensation (FAC) Program
The FAC program is part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, enacted February 17, 2009 and provides a $25 weekly supplement to the unemployment compensation of eligible claimants. The $25 supplement will start automatically with any unemployment benefits paid for the week ending February 28, 2009. The last week payable to eligible claimants ends on July 3, 2010. The last week to establish FAC eligibility on a new claim is the week ending 12/26/09.
Emergency Unemployment Compensation
Title IV of the Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2008 was signed into law July 2, 2008. This Act, referred to as Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC08), provides up to 13 weeks of extended benefits for otherwise eligible unemployment claimants who exhaust their regular Unemployment Insurance benefits. Claimants may be eligible for the benefits if they exhausted an Unemployment Insurance claim sometime on or after May 5, 2007.
Public Law (P.L.) 110-449 enacted November 21, 2008, expanded the EUC08 program to provide up to 7 more weeks of Unemployment Insurance benefits to eligible claimants.
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 extends the period of time for establishing EUC08 eligibility on a new claim to the week ending December 26, 2009. It does not provide additional weeks of benefits.
