It is the duty of the Division of Mine Inspections and Safety to enter, inspect, and examine any mining operation, whether in the process of development, construction, or operation, and inspect the workings and machinery belonging thereto, at all reasonable times, either day or night, but not so as to impede or obstruct the working thereof; to enforce laws, rules, and regulations in regard to health and safety.  The Inspector is appointed by the Governor with Senate confirmation required.  He must be at least 35 years of age with 15 years of mining experience, and a qualified elector.
